It’s not possible to limit length of this line. It works like that : the length of this line is limited by collieders, it means that line is as length as distance between white ball and other object (ball or band). I cast Ray in code that detects other object in the cue stick direction, then it controls length of this line

I know how that line works as I’ve studied the code already and found those calculations. I know that by default, there is no such option. I was asking for your help in customizing that thing in the following way:

 

– Keep the length of the line limited (adjustable with numbers, just like other lines). Forget about the contacts of other lines at the moment as I know how to deal with them. Just focus on the main line. I want to limit it but if the balls are very near to the whiteball, it should not override those balls and should stop its cast on the nearest ball (the balls within the range of limited line).

 

You are great in coding and I am sure it won’t take more than 2-5 minutes from you to write that custom code. I would really appreciate your help. Waiting for your reply.

I know what you mean but I don’t know how it will look like, so we for example limit the line, it means that if in for example distance of 5 we don’t collide with anything just don’t render those lines?

 

If so you can easily limit it. In CueController.cs find this line:

 

if (Physics.SphereCast(ray, radius, out hitInfo, 15, layerMask))
{

you can adjust the length of SphereCast in 4 parameter. Just change value of “15” to any value

I just tested your given tip and changed the value to 3. it messed up the whole aim thing, it did the trick partially but that’s what happened:

 

When i was aiming straight, the line was stuck at side (because of max distance of 3), even though my shot was straight, the white ball followed that line and didn’t go in my desired direction. Seems like you know how to do it

 

I would really appreciate if you could save me from this headache and spend your precious 4-10 minutes to do it otherwise it may take up a whole day from me to even find the working logic. You know I always appreciated the help knowing that you have life and works to do too! :)

Through your given tip, it hides the whole aim if the ball is not in a given distance. However, I want to give a minimum aim line like a few points length aim idea. Yours did the trick partially but there were two issues:

– White ball followed the white raycast which was wrong than what I aimed for. (completely different direction).

– It made the line disappear if there’s no ball near in a given distance.

To fix it open cuecontroller.cs and find checkshot function and edit it to look like on screenshot. The part that was changed are 2 lines added :

 

GameManager.Instance.iWon = false;

GameManager.Instance.iLost = true;
