From what I have seen, the game is nice.

I was able to run it successfully in Xcode7.2 on a Mac.


But when I try to run the game out of its folder via the console I get this error:


“.cocos-project.json is not found.” – So is the cocos project file missing?

Also, Google ADK has now changed to Android Studio, and does not support Eclipse anymore.

This means this source code is outdated. The documentation only covers the reskin and there is very few information about the proper setup. Can you please provide a better and updated documentation? How can I load the project into a working editor now to make changes to the source code? How do I compile for other platforms, other than iOS & MacOS? Please advise! Thank You!

I still wish there would be more details, that might be all obvious to you, but regular mortals like me are missing. I definitely think more info wouldn’t hurt either:


Most importantly: How can we open the project, so that we get the way it was created?

-What Environment, setup and added plugins should this all be set on?

-Updated, Year 2016 Details, please!?

-What Version of Eclipse? (They are different from what I know, recently with Android’s “Gradle”).

-Does the current game project setup make use of “Gradle” already?

-And if it does, why is it that you can’t support Android Studio by default?

-And if not, why is there no way to properly migrate/support it for “the tool to go, AS” nowadays?


Can you please provide at least more and/-or detailed instructions, and best -possibly include this in the documentation for others as well, on how and in which software/tool to properly setup this project? Refering on to Ecplipse and Xcode can’t be all, can it? Currently, there are just too many gaps in the documentation and thus, the entire project setup is misleading at best, and certainly to be viewed as “RAW”. Being at least a nice game which it is, at least I could not find anything that set me on the right tracks although I tried. There might be Others.


This leads to the conclusion, that the current condition of the source code, or better its available state, is still unusable for anyone who is especially interested and willing to take a look at this project in a more detailed manner.


This whole product does not need to feel like slum change, does it?

Cocos2d-x supported Eclipse. All documentation about your software you can find on oficial site:

Hi @Kaskader, I had our team take another look and give you an extra hand here. please read their explanations below. I hope this will assist you.

1) The code cannot be run on android studio. It requires a lot of time and programming to make this code workable on android studio. However: defence of greece code is built on cocos2d-x version 3.4

2) This project can be only built in eclipse at the moment as it only supports eclipse. You need to follow documentation for running it. Which means you need to follow the documentation in setting all the paths correctly in order to build.

3) Please do not use command line tool because of which you are getting error. the error that you are having is because you do not have cocos2d-x installed. You need to make sure that you install cocos2d-x properly and the recommended version is 3.4 but even if you install it you will get lot of errors by building in command line tool as you need to set the paths, environment variables , libraries and package name and this can only be done by eclipse not by command line tool. command line tool is just for building apk not for changing code.

4) there is no significance to the version of your Eclipse as long as you install cocos2d-x 3.4 correctly.

Even though Google doesn’t support ECLIPSE anymore you can still use cocos2d and the documentation plus the outlines stated above to be able to build and customize your project.

@Sellmyapp Team: How much does a re-skin cost for this App? As of now, without a proper code update or at least the port to Android Studio, this source code remains unusable. There are too many dependencies, plugins and various problems that occur trying to set things up with the current versions of available required tools. Have you tried to set it up yourself with the current versions of all the dependencies for the SDK, NDK, Java and Eclipse? I guess not, because if you would have – you would experience lots of incompatibility issues and errors, too many even to mention. You might say we should use all the old versions that this kit once has supported, which might have been fine, but there are some dependencies that simply must be updated in order to work properly and they do break the code. From all the issues that arise, you only document very few, and that is why not only the entire source code but the documentation is outdated, along with the stopped support for Eclipse by Google of course. I really, really like this game and want to make it work badly, but you are making it looking good, while it is barely usable in the current timeline of system requirements.

@???????? ????????: Any news on the Android Studio support, or any chance to get an update for this current source code here? If anything else fails, which it seems that it does, I’d still be ok if we can get it going somehow. Can you perform/provide an on “per customer” based paid update so this can run properly?
